Outdoor live in Lubeck June 2008VERTIGO IN TOKYO
Vertigo were invited over to play at the Tokyo Irish music festival as part of the st Patricks day festivities on March 16th/17th 2008. Vertigo marched in the Parade down Omotesando street meeting the Japanese U2 tribe amongst other friends from Paddy foleys pub and Irish Music Promotions.
After the parade finished the people made their way to Omotesando hills center to see Irish Music collective, Whirpools end and of course Vertigo.
Earlier in the day a troop of dancers from Riverdance performed to a packed audience. When Vertigo were introduced to the stage the crowd were very welcoming and appreciative but remained in their seats until one guy got up to shake "Bono's" hand during "Where the streets have no name" and the crowd just erupted and everyone ran to the stage.
From that moment on everyone remained on their feet at the front of the stage with some fans being brought onstage to join the band for a song. The 2nd last song was "Desire" in which a troop of dancers led by Ruth Mulvenna joined Vertigo in the middle of the song and Vertigo then finished with the last song "With or without you" thanking everyone involved.
Vertigo were then asked by Cashell to remain onstage only to be joined by Irish Music collective and Whirpools end playing an Irish tune with John on drums.
We truly had a great trip and a great gig and would to thank Cashell, Ruth and everyone involved with IMP for having us there.
At the beginning of 2006 a friend of the band was lucky enough to meet Bono at a wedding. She walked straight up to him and told him how much of a fan she was. And of course she mentioned Vertigo - Live; and told him all about how the guys would be playing for his wife, Ali Hewson, in Middleton, Cork on Sunday the 9th of April 2006 at around 11am (Daytime).
Cool or what, eh?
It gets a little better though. Bono also left a little message for the band along with his autograph.
Can you believe that? Well then check this out... Click on the autograph to see Bono's message.
P.S. Hope you like the small changes to the site, most of it's under the hood though. ![]()
Vertigo - Live, one of the finest tributes there is to the great U2 play Stage 2, The Forum on Wednesday 28th December 2007.
"Vertigo deliver the true sentiment and energy of U2's material through fresh and accurate interpretations of U2's countless hits and choice album cuts. The utmost attention has been paid to detail. It's not enough these days to play music to the note, which this band does second to none. Vertigo - Live, recreates a live U2 show. Frontman Derek P. as Bono is superb, his searing vocals are extremely powerful and moving. In addition to paying tribute to Bono's unique vocal style with incredible accuracy Derek looks the part too..."
